223 viewsStarting point: Clevedon. Got the 362 bus from Bristol Bus Station (recently rebuilt as part of the all new Broadmead reconstruction - very shiny) and started by walking along the seafront. Just to prove it, here's a picture of Clevedon Pier. Clevedon Pier fact 1: it's partly made out of old railway lines. Clevedon Pier fact 2: it's the only Grade 1 listed pier in the country.

62 viewsWalked along the Mariner's Way which hugs the clifftops between Clevedon and Portishead. Lots of people fishing, both off the rocks (look closely and you'll see them), and in boats.
IMGP0334.JPG
109 viewsThis is Walton Bay, a little inlet about halfway between Clevedon and Portishead. Fairly nondescript, but convenient for sitting on a rock for long enough to scoff a pork pie and a couple of choccy bars.

63 viewsFirst attempt at timer photography. Trouble is the exposure setting gets set while I'm not in the picture, and cos the background is all sea it ends up a bit dark.
IMGP0337.JPG
65 viewsMe contemplating the majesty of the ocean. Or possibly just trying to get in the photo before my 10 seconds elapsed without falling off a rock and breaking my arse.

51 viewsIt's a harsh and unforgiving world out here in the wild, folks. Sadly, this little feller didn't make it. There was a rabbit a bit further along as well, but I didn't get the camera out because a) it was a bit messier and b) there was a bloke out walking his dog who might have thought I was a bit weird.

50 viewsThis is me leaning nonchalantly on a gate in the middle of Weston Moor. A wetland haven for a veritable cornucopia of ornithological wonders, apparently. Well, I didn't see any. Maybe they heard me coming.
IMGP0340.JPG
42 viewsArty low-level shot of Weston Moor, with trademark Somerset Levels drainage ditch in foreground, and trademark cows in background.

59 viewsSlightly bizarrely as you walk through the woods near Clapton Wick you hear a noise and glance above you to see the M5 on stilts above your head. Now you don't see that every day. Unless you live in Clapton Wick, of course.
IMGP0342.JPG
53 viewsLook, there it is again.
IMGP0343.JPG
57 viewsThis is Cadbury Camp, an old hill fort. The usual big circular arrangement with banked ramparts etc. Actually this is a pretty well-preserved example.
IMGP0344.JPG
67 viewsMore ramparts.
